LEONHARD WEISS connects people across borders
The project 3-track upgrade Freilassing - Salzburg is part of the upgraded line 38, which is 141 km long; the line connects the cities Munich and Salzburg within the Trans-European Network (TEN). For the partial project Freilassing-Salzburg the existing double-track line between Freilassing on the German side and Salzburg on the Austrian side is expanded by a third track at the bottleneck. This is done in order to take the stress off the intercity rail tracks. Furthermore a quicker evacuation of freight trains from the economic centres and transfer stations in the south of Germany can be guaranteed by using the third track. LEONHARD WEISS GmbH & Co. KG realises this project in a joint venture with the local construction company Max Aicher Bau GmbH. In 2014 the joint venture was awarded the contract for the construction and planning for the project mentioned above by DB AG. For LEONHARD WEISS the business divisions Track Construction and Railway Technology (General Contractor Network Construction) are involved in the execution of the construction project. One of the particularities of the project is the construction of a noise protection wall with a height of 6 metres and a bridge of 150 metres made of armoured concrete. The bridge crosses the border and spans the river the Saalach.
